When the heat of the summer hits, you may be looking for a new and fun way to cool off. If you have access to a motorized boat, consider water skiing! It is a fun way to break into the world of water sports, and has an easy learning curve so that just about anyone can take part in this fun pastime. Before you hit the water though, you?ll want to learn a little more about the sport and the gear you?ll need.
It is much like its snowy counterpart, except in water skiing, you use a tow rope suspended from a motorized boat to pull you across the water. The skis are the same, and you?ll need a quality pair of Spy sunglasses to beat the glare coming off of the water. You?ll also want to make sure you have a good lifejacket that fits properly before you head out to the lake.
Most beginners will start out with a deep water start. This means you start with your skis in the water and in a crouching position with the ski tips pointing up and out of the water. When the boat driver hits the gas, you?ll then hold the tow rope and be propelled up onto the surface of the water. It may take a few tries to get up, but once you do, you?ll be hooked. Water skiing is an exhilarating way to spend the summer and it?s easy to see why so many love it.
If you?re considering water skiing, remember to bring your lifejacket, Spy sunglasses and sense of fun, and you?ll be well on your way to it.
