A Sophisticated Tequila Cocktail Recipe for Fall

tequila martini, tequila drink recipe, tequila cocktail, tequila

Yes, it?s true.? A tequila drink recipe can go beyond pour tequila in a shot glass, wet someone?s neck, pour salt on wet spot (insert wet spot joke here), stuff a lime wedge in that persons mouth and proceed accordingly (aka the body shot).? A tequila cocktail can also be more than your usual margarita.? I swear these statements to be true.? Granted, the body shot may be more fun to consume, but it?s hardly the sophisticated consumption method that is preferred at most adult parties or restaurants.? For this discussion, class reunions and swingers parties don?t count.

I learned about this tequila cocktail on a recent trip to Amsterdam.? Recent may be an understatement here as I just got home last night.? I have been using this little tequila martini (I think it?s classy enough to be called a martini even though it isn?t) as my cure for jet lag.? I?m actually thinking about filing a patent on it.? People file patents for dumber things than this.? Plus, people really need something to help get over their jet lag?so it?s kind of like a public service.? Yes, I just said that tequila is a public service item.

And yes, it?s not lost on me that I picked up a tequila drink recipe in of all places, Amsterdam.? Trust me, there will be absinthe recipes coming soon.? But Amsterdam is full of surprises like that.? It?s not all coffee shops, prostitutes and green fairies.? I?ve been there enough times now to see the other things that are there, including great food and drink.

But since I?m completely jet lagged, and beginning to hallucinate due to my lack of sleep, I?m going to cut this post really short.? Please enjoy this tequila martini as a way to celebrate fall and/or stave off the ravages of jet lag.? Either way, your tastebuds will thank you.

This one defies further explanation.

Ingredients

  • 1 Inch Piece of Ginger (cut to small pieces)
  • 1/4 of Pear (cut to small pieces)
  • 1 1/2 Ounce A?ejo Tequila
  • 1/2 Ounce Cointreau
  • Juice of One Lime

Instructions

  1. Add ginger and pear pieces to a cocktail shaker and muddle until everything is thoroughly mashed.
  2. Add tequila, Cointreau and lime juice to the mixture.
  3. Add ice.
  4. Cover the shaker and shake vigorously.
  5. Strain into a martini glass and garnish with a wedge of pear.

Quick notes

You do not need to peel the pear or the ginger.

You can use any type of pear you wish. I used a Bosc pear when I made this.

Variations

If you don?t have pears available to you, you could also use pear juice. Simply add 1 tablespoon at a time until the desired flavor is achieved.
