College Football 2013: Big East could change name to 'America 12'

The Big East Conference could be changing its name to the ?America 12 Conference? following the departure of the Catholic 7 basketball schools, reports ESPN?s Brett McMurphy on Twitter.

Now that teams such as Houston, Memphis, East Carolina and Central Florida are joining the conference, the organization has been inclined to take a more country-wide approach to the name change.

?America 12? certainly fits the bill, albeit a little cheesy. I?m sure Captain America and Uncle Sam have no problems with the title, and presumably its stars and stripes themed logo.

As stated in the tweet, this isn?t official yet; it?s just the favorite at this time. What is set in stone is the fact that the Catholic 7 will retain the Big East name this summer.
