According to a report from GeekWire, Microsoft (MSFT) has informed its full-time employees that they will be receiving both a Surface tablet and a Windows Phone 8 smartphone for free. In addition, the software giant is said to be accelerating the refresh cycle of its employees? work computers and is ensuring everyone gets upgraded to a Windows 8 machine. The refresh cycle is normally three years, however the company wanted to move its employees onto the new operating system as soon as possible, the report said. Microsoft has apparently already begun its upgrade to Windows 8 machines and plans to distribute Surface and Windows Phone 8 devices to employees in the coming weeks. The company had previously handed out Windows Phone 7 devices to its more than 90,000 employees.
