Dr. Deveaux, who was the only international nominee and finalists among the 55 males being highlighted, was recognized for his work with the annual Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Awards Program. He received the Education K-12 Award, which recognizes a male working with K-12 students, and using innovation to empower students to reach their fullest potential.
Deveaux was instrumental in establishing the Annual Bahamas Primary School Student of the Year Awards Program in 1996. Since its inception, he has been one of the driving forces behind the success of the program and is currently the only original committee member still in active leadership with the Awards. He has led the way with his fundraising efforts in the area of scholarships and since 2007, he has led the Foundation?s effort to official track former nominees. Over 50% of the former nominees have been tracked and he has developed and maintained a mentorship aspect with many of these former nominees.
Many of the former nominees have thanked President Deveaux for the opportunity to participate in the awards program but more importantly still encouraging them in their academic pursuits. In accepting the award, Deveaux said that ?He was honoured to have been recognized internationally for the work that he was doing here in The Bahamas. He further added that you just never know who is watching your service.?
