Leading Philippine contemporary furniture and building materials manufacturers return to Index by Diane RM Roldan, Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions
The Philippines returns to the largest and most prestigious trade show in the Middle East, the Middle East International Furniture, Interiors and Retail Design Exhibition, also known as Index, on 28 November to 02 December at the Dubai International Exhibition Centre.
This fourth Philippine participation will feature high-end furniture manufacturers Coast Pacific Manufacturing Corporation, Designs Ligna, Inc., Furniture Specialists, Inc., Stoneworld Impex, Inc., and Valore Mobili (a division of CPA Muebles International).
Home accessories specialists Swambi Inc., Faiman Handicrafts; landscaping experts and outdoor furniture, garden accessories, and artificial plants supplier Scherer Jardin Plants are also included in the delegation, together with PVC laminated wooden doors and jambs professionals YYD System Interiors, Inc.; and, marble processors and suppliers Teresa Marble Corporation and Smart 1 Corporation (formerly known as NS Marble).
The Philippines joins national pavilions from Europe, America and the Far East, and companies from more than fifty countries around the world who are expected to take part in this year?s event.
This undertaking is organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), an export promotions arm of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The participation in Index continues to capitalize on the successes it has initiated three years ago. Since then, Dubai and the rest of the Gulf Region remain among the Philippines? top trading partners. They have become major sources of various business propositions, outsourcing arrangements, and possible partnerships with overseas design firms, architectural and contractual agencies, trade and private buyers, importers, agents and distributors from all over the Middle East
Index is also an important and indispensable venue for the Philippines to expand its furniture and home accessories markets, design and architectural services, and natural building materials? distribution base. The presence of exceptional Filipino- designed and crafted products complement the expansive development and real estate requirements in the construction and interior sectors of the Middle East today. It attractively complements the changing, sophisticated look of the modern Dubai landscape, and the ongoing economic progress in the region gives way to more infrastructure development and real estate, tourist, and commercial facilities.
The Philippine debut in Index in 2002 first showcased Movement 8?s pool of talented designers and their respective product lines. Movement 8 is a group of cutting edge Filipino designers who have given a definitive image to Philippine design in the international market.
The country?s presence in Index has always been highly anticipated after its first participation. It became synonymous with a showcase of quality, artistically crafted, and tropical inspired home pieces with stylishly ergonomic shapes and rounded corners, clean silhouettes and sophisticated lines.
International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF)?s Editors Award for Craftsmanship recipients Kenneth Cobonpue and Ann Pamintuan were past participants in this CITEM-organized undertaking in Index, as well as Ched Berenguer-Topacio of the Berenguer-Topacio Interior Design firm, Vince Padua of Padua International Corporation, and top home furnishings and accessories exporters such as Johanna?s Export, Cebu Fil-Veneer Corporation, Miles Ahead Corporation, Pinnacle Castings, Inc., and Philippine Carpet Manufacturing Corporation, among others.
Today, the demand for Philippine furniture and home furnishings in the Middle East is growing steadily. From the initial posting of US $ 18.75 million in sales in Index three years ago, the amount generated through the years has continuously increased along with the interest and inquiries not only from ME-based buyers but also from Europe, the Americas, and other competitor countries in Asia.
The Philippines will join Arabian Gulf?s most comprehensive event in the Construction industry ? The Big 5 ? on 28 October to 01 November 2006 at the Dubai International Convention Centre, UAE. Its participation will present an ensemble of quality natural building materials, aesthetically designed and manufactured tile and flooring components, and exceptional architectural and interior design services that will newly inspire and influence the way you live.
